What's the point?

If you've found this page, then you've probably read it and thought 'What's the point of this? It looks rubbish!'. You know what? You're right. This is about as basic as a website can be whilst still calling itself a website. And really, that's the point. What I want to do is just build the most basic website I can, for the pure purpose of learning how to to build the most basic website I can. No Wordpress, no Squarespace, no Wiz. Just plain, simple HTML.

Is it fancy? No? Is it going to win awards? No. Is it even going to look even vaguely presentable? Probably not! But is it more than I knew how to build this time last week? Absolutely. And for that alone, I figure it's worth doing. Already I've figured out how to write this much in html, figure out web hosting, and upload it via FTP. I think that's a pretty good start.
